Young people don’t need to wait for a crisis

One of the most important messages about counselling is that you don’t have to reach crisis point before asking for support.

Counselling can be useful when a young person is simply finding life more difficult than usual.

They might be:

  • Feeling overwhelmed
  • Struggling with confidence
  • Worried about school
  • Experiencing friendship problems
  • Going through a significant change
  • Unsure about their identity
  • Finding it difficult to manage emotions
  • Constantly worrying about the future

Talking about these experiences early can give young people an opportunity to understand what they are experiencing and consider what might help.
